Meet Denise Goodman, DMD

Dr. Denise Goodman is originally from Long Island, New York. She’s passionate about discovering new technologies, such as laser therapy, to help make dentistry more comfortable and effective for patients of all ages. As someone who had a difficult time at the dentist’s office as a child, Dr. Goodman prioritizes the patient experience for everyone in her care. How to Choose the Best Pediatric Dentist in Rhode Island

Choosing a pediatric dentist is one of the most important decisions parents make for their child’s long-term oral health. A positive early dental experience can shape a child’s attitude toward oral care for life, building confidence, comfort, and trust. When selecting the best pediatric dentist in Rhode Island, there are several factors to keep in mind to ensure your child receives exceptional care in a supportive and nurturing environment.

1. Specialized Education and Board Certification

Pediatric dentists undergo additional years of training beyond dental school to learn how to address the unique needs of children, from infants to adolescents. This advanced education focuses on child psychology, growth and development, and the prevention and management of dental issues in young patients. Board certification from the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD) is another key credential—it indicates that a dentist has met the highest professional standards for expertise, ethics, and patient care. Parents can feel confident knowing their child’s dentist has the specialized training required to handle even the most complex pediatric dental concerns.

2. Experience with Children and a Gentle Approach

A skilled pediatric dentist not only understands children’s dental anatomy but also knows how to communicate effectively with them. Look for a provider who creates a calm, reassuring atmosphere and explains procedures in an age-appropriate way. Compassion and patience go a long way in helping children feel at ease, especially those who may be anxious or fearful. Many parents find that dentists who once struggled with dental visits themselves, like Dr. Denise Goodman, bring a special empathy and sensitivity to their care.

3. A Child-Friendly Environment and Modern Technology

The best pediatric dental offices are designed with children in mind. Bright, welcoming spaces, caring staff, and kid-focused amenities can make visits fun and stress-free. Equally important is the use of advanced technology, such as digital imaging and minimally invasive techniques, which can make treatment more comfortable and efficient.

4. A Commitment to Preventive and Personalized Care

Prevention is the foundation of pediatric dentistry. Look for a dentist who emphasizes education, regular checkups, and proactive care to help your child develop healthy habits early. When it comes to dentistry for kids, a personalized treatment approach can ensure that care is tailored to each child’s developmental stage, lifestyle, and comfort level.

When selecting a pediatric dentist in Rhode Island, seek a professional who blends clinical expertise with genuine compassion. With her extensive training, decades of experience, and commitment to making dentistry a positive experience for every patient, Dr. Goodman exemplifies the qualities that define exceptional pediatric dental care.
